What is telehealth?
Telehealth means speaking with a healthcare professional remotely. With Instacare, you can discuss a health concern with a doctor by phone or video, without travelling to a clinic. Appointments are 15 minutes, and the doctor will explain your options and next steps.
Phone or video: which should I choose?
A phone appointment suits people who prefer a conversation without a camera. Keep your phone nearby at the agreed time. A video appointment lets you and the doctor see one another; use a device with a camera, microphone and reliable internet. The team will confirm how to join.
Neither option replaces every physical examination. If your concern needs an in-person assessment, the doctor will explain where to seek further care.
Can I use telehealth near me?
You do not need to live near an Instacare clinic to use the online service. Phone and video consultations are available to people physically in New Zealand, including Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, Dunedin and rural communities.
If you need hands-on treatment, an examination or urgent care, choose an appropriate local service. Instacare is an online service, rather than a walk-in clinic.
What can I discuss with an online GP?
You can discuss everyday health concerns, medicines, follow-up questions and advice on next steps. Prescriptions, medical certificates and referrals are provided only when clinically appropriate after the doctor assesses you.
Read about our online GP services and prescription policy before arranging your appointment.
Prepare for your consultation
- Have your current medicines and relevant health information available.
- Choose a quiet, private place with a reliable connection.
- For video, check your camera and microphone before the appointment.
- Have the patient available; a parent or guardian should help when arranging care for a child.
- Keep your contact number and current location available in case the connection drops.
Hours, fees and booking
Service hours are 8 am–10 pm, seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays. All times are New Zealand time. Appointment availability must be confirmed.
Published consultation fees start at $35 NZD. The applicable fee depends on age and visitor status; check the consultation fees with our team before booking. Medicines, tests or in-person care may have separate charges.
